Elk

Colorado Elk | Unit 41

Description:  This outfitter operates as the exclusive outfitter on over 150,000 acres of the Grand Mesa, the largest flattop mountain range in the world. This is a non-motorized unit and allows us to offer truly backcountry big game hunts, summer horseback vacations, and Colorado fly fishing.

Unit 41 is a guaranteed tag unit for elk. However, black bear hunts are available at no extra charge. Bear tags are draw only on the unit.

Accessible only by foot or horse, means this area remains primitive, private, and unfailingly wild. This is one of the last outfitters in the state that offers authentic pack-style hunts. Experience a true Colorado elk hunt on the state’s western slope!

Accommodations:  This unit is primitive and cannot legally sustain a lodge, but the camp is very comfortable, food is delicious and the view spectacular.

Main camp consists of canvas four-wall tents, all equipped with cots and wood stoves. Two 16' x 24' tents connect to form the main tent, which provides ample room for relaxing and dining.

They maintain two guest tents, each 12' x 14'. They provide plenty of room for you to sleep and store your gear. Hot showers are available for guests year round with the exception of November rifle seasons as it tends to freeze.

Drop camps stand at strategic points across the mountain to spread hunting pressure. Adequate pressure creates movement in the elk, reveals the best animals within the herds, and produces the most kill opportunities.

Transportation/Getting there:  Clients can fly or drive to Grand Junction, Colorado.
