Elk

Northern New Mexico Elk

Description:  This destination is one of the finest hunting destinations in the West. The ranch sits astride the historic migration route of the entire Southern Colorado-San Juan elk herd, making this perhaps the most extraordinary elk habitat in the Southwest.

Comprised of 17,000 acres, the property is a rich alpine wilderness at the intersection of multiple ecosystems.  Mountains, forests, meadows, lakes and streams attract a remarkable diversity of animals.

Of all the world's great species of big game, nothing quite matches the American Elk. It is a grand and majestic creature, whose magnificent presence and autumn bugles are a constant reality here on the Ranch. Six to seven thousand wild elk migrate through the ranch each year. This makes for great hunting every week of the hunt season.  Hunters are continually astonished at the number of elk we have on the ranch and we surpass expectations every season.

Each hunt is five days long. There are six rifle elk hunts, three archery hunts, and two rifle elk/mule deer hunts currently scheduled between September and late November.  Our experienced guides will help you navigate our terrain and call in a bull of a lifetime.

Accommodations:  The ranch and hunting lodge is located just two hours north of Santa Fe, NM, in the legendary San Juan Mountains of northern New Mexico, just west of Chama on Highway 64.

Situated on a hillside overlooking the Chama Valley, the lodge offers convenience, comfort, great food, and spectacular views. The grand room is elegantly comfortable, encircled by picture windows with spectacular views and furnished with large leather chairs and sofas perfect for relaxing after a long day out on the Ranch. The river rock fireplace turns the room into a warm refuge on our cool Rocky Mountain nights. The gaming table and large screen satellite television round out one of the most social areas of the cabin. Wireless internet service is available throughout the Lodge, and the cell reception is typically excellent.

There are eleven very comfortably furnished bedrooms. Each has two full sized beds with pillowtop mattresses, a leather couch or chair and plenty of space for gear. Nine bedrooms have a private bathroom, two bedrooms share a common bath.

Accommodations at the ranch are spacious and clean, and the vistas are truly outstanding. We provide all the comfort and convenience you would expect from a classic Western ranch.

Transportation/Getting there: The hunting lodge is located just two hours north of Santa Fe, NM, just west of Chama on Highway 64. With flight service to both Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM, and a private airstrip in Pagosa Springs, CO (just 45 miles away).  Clients fly to one of the preferred airports and rent a vehicle to the lodge.
