Description: Pakistan is one of the unique countries on the face of the earth that is blessed with a great variety of mountain game animals. But not only rich in diversity, it also holds healthy populations of some of the rarest animals which do not exist anywhere else in the world. The South part of the country is home to two of these highly sought after trophy animals - Blanford urial and Sind Ibex. Both species share the same habitat and live in hill country along the Kirthar range.
Although Blanford is very similar to Afghan Urial it grows actually smaller in both body and horn size with lesser neck ruff and bib. 26”-28” (66-71 cm) Rams and 37”-39” (94-99 cm) billies are quite common in the well protected and managed areas. The destination has collected the current #1 SCI Blanford which measured 36 around the curl and a good number of 30” + trophies in recent years. It is possible to harvest both trophies within a few days while staying in a very comfortable camp.
Both animals inhabit the hills of Kirthar range that extends about 190 miles from north to south. We arrange our hunts in two separate areas on this mountain chain and both can be reached within a 3 hour drive from Karachi airport. Hunting takes places at altitudes between 500-1200 mt (1,650'-4,800').
The day starts very early and after a breakfast the hunter takes a short ride of about 30-40 minutes in a comfortable 4x4 truck to get to the hunting area. Since the animals are in good numbers, it does not take very long before the first bands of rams or billies are spotted. Once the desired size ram or billie is located a last stalk will be executed.
Accommodations: Hunters are accommodates in guest houses owned by the ruler families of both areas. These villas are quite comfortable with the availability of hot shower and television etc.
Transportation/Getting there:
There are daily and direct flights to Islamabad (capital) from a number of major European cities. Lufthansa and British Airways are flying to Islamabad directly from Frankfurt and London but both airports can be problematic for the ones who travel with guns. Another alternative is to use a connection through Dubai or Doha by flying Emirates. But, this airline requires a three day gun notice. Therefore hunters who concludes their hunts earlier than planned may have to spend a few days in Islamabad before they board for the flight. When considered all, Turkish airlines seems to be one of the best options for this destination as there are direct flights from Istanbul to Islamabad four times a week.
The guests will be met by one of our representatives at the airport and will be escorted to the domestic airlines terminal after the passport control and gun formalities are complete. There is a good number of flights to Karachi during the day hours and the flying time is about two hours. Our rep will accompany you during this flight also. Once in Karachi, guests will have to take about a three hour drive to get to the camp.
Day by Day itinerary
Since both species share the same habitat, it is not uncommon to hunt both animals in a single day. However 4 hunting days should be spared for both species to be on the safe side. A tentative day by day itinerary could be as follows:
Day 01...........Arrive in Islamabad, custom handling, fly to Karachi ( 2 hours), drive to the area (3 hours), overnight in the guest house.
Day 02 - 05...Hunt Blanford Urial and Sind Ibex.
Day 06...........Drive back to Karachi and fly to Islamabad and home
Trophy treatment and Shipment
The skin of the trophy is carefully treated, ears, lips, nose are opened and salted and the scull are boiled and cleaned and later, the trophy carefully packed for shipment. After all papers are prepared which are necessary for the shipment, the shipment is sent to the address that you provide us with. Receiving the trophies could take couple of months and shipment cost is around US$500 -750 depending on the address.
Pakistan visa process
In order to avoid any problems, Pakistan visa is needed to be taken beforehand and hunters are required to receive a Pakistan visa issued on their passport. And the validity should be at least 6 months from the departure date. After the outfitter provides you with a invitation letter, visa can easily be taken from the Pakistani Embassy in your country.
