Description: For the waterfowler, there is nothing better for the soul than watching the day break as the morning’s first big flock of ducks start working your spread – their chattering back and forth- the sound of their wings cutting the cold air – the smell of coffee in the blind – the restless lab sitting next to you – and then the sweet smell of gun powder – this is what duck hunting is all about…
This duck hunting paradise farms and manages nearly ten thousand acres of farm ground of which 95% of the crop is rice. They rotate crops with soybeans and Japanese millet which can also be flooded for the ducks. Located in the heart of the flyway this destination is the first stop into Arkansas for birds heading south on the Mississippi flyway. Nearly 40% of North America’s waterfowl use the Mississippi Flyway on their annual migration.
Duck hunting tradition runs deep here, and this destination is a fifth generation farm in the Clover Bend area. Hunters utilize rice fields with pits as well as ground blinds. There are also green timber holes next to rest areas, good hunting on the black river, cypress slews, and oxbows that are owned by the lodge. Owning over eight miles of private property that continuously borders both sides of the Black River.
A limited number of hunting parties are taken here each year, therefore they are able to rotate and rest the fields on a regular basis, and have a large number of fields that are never hunted. There is no pressure from others hunters and property that connects to Wildlife management rest areas. In total there are thirty different locations in which to hunt.
