Dorado, Pacu & Pira Pita | Alto Parana Argentina

Description:  Alto Paraná Lodge is one of the most emblematic “estancias” in Corrientes Province and hosts anglers in the search of diversity, challenge, and adrenaline.

The Upper Paraná is a large system, featuring dorado, pira pita, and chances for pacu on the fly. The operation is located in the clearest section of this legendary river. Being the main artery in the basin, supersized dorados are a possibility anytime. It’s also the most productive section of the Paraná for pacu and pira pita (both silver and yellow)—pound-for-pound one of the strongest freshwater species. Our skiffs have been specifically designed for this type of fishing.

First class guides and equipment and nature in abundance round out one of the most dynamic Dorado programs offered in Argentina.

Accommodations:  Built in 1800 and recently refurbished, Alto Paraná Lodge is one of the most ancient estancias in Corrientes Province. The estancia extends from the Paraná River all the way down to the Iberá Marshlands surrounded by an ambience of paradise with exuberant vegetation and fauna.

The main house has four fully air conditioned-single bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. There’s also a large living room, a dining area, a fully stocked bar and a fly-tying table. A veranda surrounds the whole house providing a spectacular view of an immense park with local species and to the swimming pool.

The lodge can host up to 4 anglers and 4 non-anglers in perfect taste and comfort.

Transportation/Getting there:  Guests fly into Buenos Aires and typically overnight there having spent a day touring this wonderful city. There are daily flights available from Buenos Aires (Aeroparque domestic airport AEP) to Posadas (PSS). The flight is non-stop and takes around 1.3 hours. Once at Posadas airport, a transfer will take you to Alto Paraná lodge in a 1.2 hours ride.
